 AFSCP Certification logoYou can now qualify to earn an industry-recognized filtration certification, the AFS Certified Professional (AFSCP).  AFS has undertaken a thorough and collaborative process to develop this certification program to respond to the growing demands of today's environment.  In establishing this certification, AFS helps organizations hire the most qualified managers through certification and gives individuals a set of recognized criteria to validate their qualifications and advance their careers.

 

New for 2024: You may now gain certification in the appropriate discipline for you, either air or liquid. 12 hours of AFS education are now required vs. 20 hours required in 2023. Complete the Introduction to Filter Media course for both certifications and select either Introduction to Solid/Liquid Separation or Introduction to Air Gas Filtration to fulfill the education requirements.

Certification Process

  1. Fulfill Eligibility Criteria - The AFSCP certification requires you to meet the education, training, and experience criteria before you apply.  to find out the eligibility requirements, consult the FAQs.
  2. Complete Application - Once you've determined you meet the eligibility criteria, it's time to apply.  Use our online certification system to guide you through the process. 
  3. Application Review - Once we receive your application, we'll verify that you meet the eligibility criteria.  Typically the application review period will take less than 10 business days.  Once it's complete, we'll email you to move on to the next step. If we have any questions regarding your application, we'll email you further instructions and directions.
  4. Prepare for the Exam - You will need to complete the required courses and study for the exam with the course handouts that are provided with the required courses.
  5. Sit for the Exam - It will be administered in person on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
  6. Certification - upon passing the exam, you will become a certified AFSCP.

What requirements must be met before sitting for the exam?

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in science, engineering, technologies, business, or management, or a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the filtration industry
  • 12 hours of AFS education.  Must take the two required basic certification courses through AFS: Introduction to Filter Media, Introduction to Air/Gas, or Introduction to Solid/Liquid Separation
  • Comply with the AFS Integrity Policy and AFS Anti-Trust Policy

How much does it cost to take the exam?

  • The exam fee is $350

How is the exam administered?

  • The exam is proctored and timed.  You will have a maximum of 2 hours to complete the exam.

How do I prepare for the exam?

  • Course handouts will be provided for each of the required courses once you purchase the course, either live or on-demand through the AFS Learning Center
