New AFS Short Course: Filtration & Separation Media Types, Uses and Global Markets

The AFS is presenting the short course, “Filtration & Separation Media Types, Uses and Global Markets,” taught by Edward C Gregor of Edward C. Gregor & Associates.

This course is designed for novice and intermediate filtration specialists or non-technical professionals who want a more in-depth understanding of filter media and their uses.  The course covers media, applications and market trends for technologies in plastic medias, membranes, filter aids and precoats, nonwovens, monofilament fabrics, ceramics, wetlaid, and wire cloths. This course will help you learn terminology, growth areas, and critical aspects for the use of each media covered using specific examples.

Attendees will learn filtration and separation terminology, gain a deeper understanding of leading technologies and their relationship to each other through practical and informative examples, understand the business implications of using each technology and recognize critical unmet media and market needs.

Course Outline:

  1. Tuesday, 9/28, 12:00 - 1:00 pm CDT: Understanding the terminology of filtration and filtration mechanics (45 minutes + Q&A)
  2. Tuesday, 9/28, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT: Eight leading media that comprise 98% of all media used with a focus on ceramics and filter aids/precoats (45 minutes + Q&A)
  3. Thursday, 9/30, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT: Focus on microporous membranes, monofilament woven fabrics and nonwoven fabrics (45 minutes + Q&A)
  4. Thursday, 9/30, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT: Focus on porous plastics, wet-laid fabrics and wire cloth (45 minutes + Q&A)

The course will be presented live online on Tuesday, September 28, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm central and Thursday, September 30, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm central. The fee is $400 for members and $500 for nonmembers.
