13th World Filtration Congress is Offering Special Tours Wednesday, October 5

The 13th World Filtration Congress is offering three special opportunities on Wednesday, October 5, the day before the official event starts.

The first is a tour of Nitto Hydranautics and Pure Water Oceanside. The tour of the Hydranautics facility will showcase the automated manufacturing of membranes used for the treatment of potable water, boiler feedwater, industrial process water, wastewater, and surface waters. Hydranautics, a Nitto Company, is a global leader in the formulation and construction of the most advanced, high-performance membrane products, including RO, NF, UF and MF membranes.  Hydranautics membranes are used in solutions addressing global issues associated with environment, energy and water that contribute to sustainable development through innovation for customers. The facility is located 50 minutes north of the Bay Front Hilton Hotel in Oceanside, CA.

**Nitto will review the list of registrants and has the right to decline an attendee's participation at least one week prior to the tour. Participants will be provided with safety glasses and must wear closed-toed shoes.

Pure Water Oceanside will purify recycled water to create a new, local source of high-quality drinking water that is clean, safe, drought-proof and environmentally sound. The program will produce enough water to provide more than 30% of the city's water supply. Pure Water Oceanside uses advanced treatment of tertiary treated water via ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and advanced oxidation. Tour participants will learn more about the City of Oceanside’s water supply and tour the Pure Water Oceanside facility at the San Luis Rey Water Reclamation Facility.

These two facilities are approximately one hour from the Hilton Bayfront. Transportation is provided, and the tour will run from 12:30 to 5:30 pm. The cost is $50.

The second opportunity is a tour of two popular San Diego breweries, where participants can sample several local craft beers, learn about the beer-making process and ask questions about the beer-making process, including information on each location's filtration methods.

The first stop will be the Coronado Brewing Co. which is one of the larger facilities in central San Diego. What began as a small brewpub on the island of Coronado has grown to distribute in 20 states and half a dozen countries.  They were the 2014 Mid-size Brewery World Beer Cup Champion and continue to raise the bar on San Diego craft beer. The next stop will be Mission Brewing, the only strictly production brewing facility directly in Downtown San Diego. Mission is in the historic Wonder Bread Building of East Village which is one of the most unique spaces for a brewery.

Transportation is provided, and this tour will run from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The cost is $95.

The final optional event is a visit to the San Diego Zoo. Participants can prepurchase tickets for $65 each and visit the zoo at a time convenient to you. Transportation is NOT provided.

The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park, approximately 15 minutes from the Hilton Bayfront. It houses 4000 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies on 100 acres of Balboa park.

To join any of the above special opportunities, simply log in to your WFC 13 account and add the options you want to your registration. Pre-purchased zoo tickets will be included in your registration packet.
