World Filtration Congress 13 to Kick Off with AFS Signature Short Courses

Education has been a key part of the AFS mission since our founding. One hallmark of this mission is our well-known selection of short courses at all our conferences, and as official host, we are bringing this suite of courses to World Filtration Congress 13.

Our half-day short courses, which kick off the Congress on Wednesday, October 5, include 12 options for fundamental filtration and separation instruction. Opportunities to learn about these topics are difficult to find, especially at this level of expertise. Leading scientific experts and industry veterans in filtration and separations are the course instructors, and access to these professionals is uncommon.

All half-day courses offer.4 CEUs and several award credit toward the AFSCP designation. Detail on all courses can be found here.

Morning 4-hour courses include:

  • Introduction to Solid/Liquid Separation I (Principles)*, presented by Dr. Wu Chen, Principal Research Scientist at Dow; Dr. Wenping Li, R&D Director, Agrilectric Research Company; Chris Wallace, VP of Technology and Senior Corporate VP for Filtration Technology Corporation and Dr. Lin Zhao, Associate Research Scientist at Dow
  • Introduction to Air/Gas Filtration I*, presented by Dr. Thad Ptak
  • Microfiltration Membrane: Types of Membranes and Applications, presented by Scott Yaeger
  • Nanofiber Filter Technologies for Filtration of Submicron Particles in Air, presented by Prof. Wallace Leung, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Liquid Filtration Testing Basics, presented by Nicolas Petillon, Ph.D., CTO at IFTS
  • Metal Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) in the Filter Industry, presented by Neil Burns, M.B.A., Co-founder and Director at Croft Filters Ltd.

Lunch is included for all short course participants and is a great time for discussion among colleagues about take-aways from the morning sessions.

Afternoon 4-hour courses include:

  • Introduction to Solid/Liquid Separation II (Equipment)*, presented by Dr. Wu Chen, Principal Research Scientist at Dow; Dr. Wenping Li, R&D Director, Agrilectric Research Company; Chris Wallace, VP of Technology and Senior Corporate VP for Filtration Technology Corp. and Dr. Lin Zhao, Associate Research Scientist at Dow.
  • Introduction to Air/Gas Filtration II*, presented by Dr. Thad Ptak
