AFS Announces AFS Certified Professional (AFSCP) Designation

The American Filtration & Separations Society is pleased to announce the AFSCP designation, which identifies qualified professionals as AFS Certified Professionals. In establishing this certification, AFS helps organizations hire the most qualified managers through certification and gives professionals a set of recognized criteria to validate their qualifications and advance their careers.

AFS is an educational, non-profit organization and global leader in providing a forum for networking and the exchange of technical knowledge in all areas of filtration and separation. Through conferences, workshops and short courses, AFS adds the AFSCP designation to the value it has brought to the filtration and separation industry for almost 40 years. AFS has undertaken a thorough and collaborative process to develop this certification program in order to respond to the growing demands of today's environment.

The first exam will be administered at WFC 13 on Wednesday, October 5, at 9:00 am Pacific Time.

Exam Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science, engineering, technologies, business, or management or a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the filtration industry
  • 20 hours of AFS education.  Must take the three required basic filtration courses through AFS: Introduction to Air/Gas, Introduction to Filter Media and Introduction to Solid/Liquid Separation
  • Comply with AFS Integrity Policy  and AFS Anti-Trust Policy

About the Exam

  • 100 questions
  • Maximum of 2 hours to complete the exam
  • Exam administered by AFS proctors twice/year starting at WFC 13 in San Diego (October 5, 2022), followed by FiltCon 2023 (May 1, 2023). 
  • $350 Exam fee
  • Professional development includes AFS conferences, AFS Virtual or in-person Short Courses and AFS Chapter meetings
  • $175 Recertification fee
